It has been a season filled with the highest highs and the lowest lows for our Varsity Football team.
High: A huge, standout victory against Granite Hills on their senior night (33-32)
Low: Losing to Helix for the 23rd year in a row (54-14), and then to Steele Canyon the following week by an even larger margin (58-3)
Now our 8-3 5th seeded Foothillers are riding another high, a decisive win against San Marcos in the first round of the D1 CIF playoffs (34-20). But there is still a long road ahead before the team can advance to the finals.
First up is a rematch against 4th seeded Madison, a team that Grossmont lost to earlier this year.
"It's going to be a good game. Madison is a good team, and they beat us last time, but we're looking to come out with a victory," said senior quarterback James Odom.
Grossmont has a clear plan for the game this Friday.
"This time we're focusing like always to win the turnover battle and getting ahead," James said.
Beating Madison would be a huge boost of confidence for Grossmont going into the semifinals of the tournament.
"We haven't been past the quarterfinals in a while, so it would be huge for the school and community," James said.
One way or another, it's going to be a night to remember.
Grossmont plays at Madison this Friday at 7pm.
